Raiders lock up Marcel Reece to contract extension

The Raiders have announced they have finalized a contract extension with fullback Marcel Reece. The two sides had agreed to terms early Monday. According to source close to Adam Caplan, the deal is a 1-yearextension. His base salary remains the same this season at $540 thousand and jumps to $1.423 million in 2013.

Reece was a priority restricted free agent signing for the team. He had earned himself a spot as a Pro Bowl alternate last season and is considered the most versatile fullback in the league.

The 6-foot-1, 255-pound Reece had a career-high 27 receptions for 301 yards with two touchdowns last season. He played in all 16 games with 13 starts in 2010, totaling 25 catches for 333 yards and three touchdowns.

The former college wide receiver was signed by the Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2008 out of Washington.

Since then he has played in 31 career games with 20 starts in four seasons with the Raiders. He has 56 career receptions for 674 yards and five touchdowns, and has rushed for 234 yards on 48 attempts with one touchdown.
