The Raiders are looking to get back on track this week after losing the opening game of the season. Raiders fans waited a long time to see their team play again only to see the whole thing fall apart. Those same fans as well as Raider players and coaches await the team's first win of the new regime.
That day could be today as the Raiders head to Miami to face the Dolphins. The Raiders' last win over the Dolphins came in their house. Although, that was five years ago (they're 0-3 against the Phins since then). That was 2007 which was also the last time the Dolphins won a September home game. They have been 0-7 since then.
And lest we forget the whoopin' the Dolphins put on the Raiders in Miami last season.
So, yeah, one of these streaks of futility will end today. The two teams are pretty evenly matched. Both have strong defensive lines and weak cornerbacks. The Raiders have Darren McFadden and the Dolphins have Reggie Bush. Both teams have first time head coaches. Neither team has a great receiving corps. The only real difference comes at quarterback with veteran Carson Palmer vs rookie Ryan Tannehill.
How the Raiders perform in this game will say a lot about them from here on out. It may be early but losing to a team in shambles such as the Dolphins are as well as falling into an 0-2 hole would be a pretty big deal. The Raiders know it, and you know it too. Let's do this.
UPDATE: Raiders inactives: LS Nick Guess, QB Terrelle Pryor, OG Tony Bergstrom, OT Joe Barksdale and OG Lucas Nix, Juron Criner and defensive end Jack Crawford. This means LS Jon Condo and WR Denarius Moore are active.
