WR Gurley signed to practice squad, Barksdale not at practice

New, comments

Raiders announce move to sign wide receiver Tori Gurley to the practice squad. Joseph Barksdale, who is reportedly cut, is not at practice.

Jeff Hanisch-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Initially it was reported that the Raiders had signed wide receiver Tori Gurley to the active roster and cut offensive tackle Joseph Barksdale. This appears at this point to be partially true.

Raiders have now announced that Gurley has been signed to the practice squad. Gurley had most recently been on the Vikings practice squad but was cut on September 18. This makes his eligible to be signed to another team's practice squad. He is a former undrafted free agent by the Packers but did not make their final 2012 roster. The Vikings then signed him to their practice squad.

The spot on the practice squad opened up when the team cut defensive tackle Vaughn Meatoga. This is the second time they have signed and cut Meatoga from the practice squad this season.

Barksdale is not at practice today which would suggest the reports are true. However, it is still uncertain who was signed to take his roster spot.
