Saturday NFL Division weekend playoff game thread

New, comments

There are two great match-ups today. Both should have some interest to Raiders fans. The first is the Ravens at the Broncos and the second is the Packers at the 49ers. To see the entire weekend schedule, click here.

The Ravens and Broncos are set to kick off at Mike High at 1:30pm Pacific Standard time (2:30pm local Mountain time)

Normally, Raiders fans might not root for the Ravens but facing the Broncos is another story. That's when the saying "The enemy of our enemy is our friend" comes into play.

The Broncos beat the Ravens pretty bad during the season but this is a different Ravens team than when they faced the Broncos before. In that game, the Ravens were without four of their starters. All of those starters are back now and the Ravens appear primed to make a playoff run. The most important of those players is one Lewis comma Ray.

The 13-time Pro Bowler and first ballot Hall of Famer returned last week for the first time since week six of this season and racked up 13 tackles in a win over the Colts. He looks to do the same in a win over the Broncos. Peyton Manning awaits.

The late game kicks off from Candlestick in San Francisco at 5:00pm Pacific Standard time.

The game features the Raiders cross bay rival 49ers facing the Green Bay Packers. This is the 49ers first game of this year's playoffs because they had a bye in week one. They will host the Packers and their high powered offense led by former Cal quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The side story is the 49ers had their chance to draft Rodgers from across the bay but opted for Alex Smith instead. Since then Rodgers has gone on to become and All Pro and Super Bowl MVP while Smith was benched earlier this season in favor of Colin Kaepernick. The 49ers will hope to keep the magic of Kaepernick going as the Packers come to town.

Another side story is the Raiders possible interest in Packers assistant coaches as their next offensive coordinator. Read all about those coaches HERE.
