The Raiders got some great news this week with the return of Stefen Wisniewski. His return can't be understated. But there is still a concern with depth along the offensive line that makes for an uneasy feeling heading into the game against Steelers.
Two weeks ago when the Raiders faced the Chiefs, they saw two of their starting offensive linemen leave the game early with injuries - center Andre Gurode and right tackle Tony Pashos. In their absence the team literally emptied their bench to replace them. Brisiel moved to center, Lamar Mady replaced him at right guard and Matt McCants took over at right tackle.
This week even with Wisniewski back, the depth is not much and it's not ideal. With the interior line shuffled around and Mady starting at right guard, the Chiefs feasted on Terrelle Pryor and the Raiders running game. One injury to the current starters and they could have similar problems against Pittsburgh.
Currently the only backup the Raiders have on the roster is undrafted rookie guard Lamar Mady. Dennis Allen also said if Pashos and Gurode were unable to return, the Raiders would be calling up Jack Cornell. That leaves no true backup center and one backup for both the interior and exterior line.
The starters can probably hold their own with Wisniewski back. But after that; scary.
