The Raiders have waived linebacker Martez Wilson Tuesday. The third year linebacker joined the team three weeks ago when they claimed him off waivers from the New Orleans Saints. The former third round pick has played almost exclusively on special teams since joining the Raiders.

His release opens a roster spot for the Raiders to activate linebacker Miles Burris from the physically unable to perform list.

The second-year linebacker returned to the practice field October 30 after being on the PUP list all season. It was his first action since last season. He had a surgery on his knee in January and his rehabilitation was much longer than had been anticipated and he stood watching all of OTA's and training camp before being placed on the PUP list which means he was to be out at least the first six weeks of the season.

Once he returned to practice, the Raiders had exactly three weeks to activate him. That time has come. The move to activate him to the regular season roster is expected to happen today or tomorrow.
