Raiders rookie quarterback Matt McGloin has been named the Pepsi Next NFL rookie of the week. He received the award for his three touchdown performance in a comeback win over the Texans last week.

It was McGloin's first start as an undrafted rookie. The award is decided by fan vote and fans love a good underdog story. But let's not get it twisted, McGloin certainly earned the award.

Others nominated for the honor were Bears defensive end and Raiders 2013 seventh round draft pick, David Bass who had an interception returned for a touchdown, fellow rookie quarterbacks EJ Manuel and Mike Glennon who each threw for a couple touchdowns and Broncos running back Montee Ball who ran for two scores.

McGloin becomes the second Raiders player to be named the Pepsi Rookie of the Week this season. Sio Moore was given the honor following the Raiders' week 8 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in which he had 1.5 sacks.
