The Raiders have added some depth and competition to their offensive tackle rotation with the addition of Alex Barron.
The former 19th overall pick in the 2005 draft out of Florida State started nearly every game for the Rams from 2006-09 at both left and right tackle. He spent one season in Dallas in 2010, appearing in 11 games, starting one.
A 6-7 1/2, 315-pound tackle was signed by the Saints in 2011 but he suffered a torn meniscus in training camp and was released with an injury settlement. Seahawks training camp in 2012 but didn't make the team.
He is expected to compete with Khalif Barnes at right tackle as well as add depth to the position. He becomes the first outside free agent signing on the offensive side of the ball for the Raiders. They had re-signed Barnes last week to a one-year deal.
