The Raiders have made their pick in round two and it is 6-5, 320 pound offensive tackle Menelik Watson. He played just one full season of division one college football at Florida State where he earned ACC Honorable Mention.
Prior to his one season as a Seminole, he played one season at Saddleback College in California.
He is a British import like Raiders round five pick last year, Jack Crawford. Also like Crawford, he came here to play basketball and got into football late. He has only played three season of organized football so he is extremely raw.
Watson graded out well among scouts and was rated to go in the draft right about where he went. In fact, I had him listed as the best available player on my top ten best players available for the Raiders in round. He will be 25 years old before the season starts and is still considered a work in progress.
