For the second-straight year, the Raiders will open at home against the Cowboys. These two teams have made a tradition out of playing each other in the preseason as this is their 29th preseason meeting.
The following week, the Raiders will travel to New Orleans to take on the Saints, where Head Coach Dennis Allen and newly signed Tracy Porter won a Super Bowl four seasons ago.
The Week 3 game in which the starters typically see the most action will occur at home against the Chicago Bears.
The Raiders will travel to Seattle for their fourth and final preseason game. These two teams have also made their preseason games a common occurrence since the Seahawks were moved from the AFC West to the NFC West several years ago. Matt Flynn will face off against his former team for the first time since being traded to the Raiders. This game comes after the first cutdown and is the last chance for many hopefuls to make an impression on the team before the final 53-man roster cutdown.
Typically the Raiders play the Cardinals in the preseason due to their geographic proximity. They will not meet this preseason. Hard to know if it has anything to do with the Carson Palmer trade or not. That would have made the preseason a bit more interesting to see Palmer again. But, alas, it will not happen.
