The Oakland Raiders have signed undrafted free agent Penn State quarterback Matt McGloin according to his agent. McGloin visited with the Raiders on Tuesday and was signed Wednesday morning.
The former Nittany Lion weathered the media firestorm amidst the Jerry Sandusky scandal and the firing of legendary coach, Joe Paterno. Through it all, he set several Penn State records. McGloin completed 270 passes for 3271 yards, 24 touchdowns to 5 interceptions his senior year.
He went undrafted and was not signed as a priority free agent by any teams. After attending tryouts for the Panthers and leaving unsigned, the Raiders brought him in and signed him.
The Raiders had signed former Eastern Washington quarterback, Kyle Padron, who struggled in rookie camps and it is assumed he will now be waived in favor of McGloin. This would keep the team at four quarterbacks on the roster along with Matt Flynn, Terrelle Pryor, and rookie fourth round pick, Tyler Wilson.
