Charles Woodson to visit Raiders

According to Carl Poston, the agent for Charles Woodson, his client will be visiting the Raiders next Tuesday.

"The Raiders have invited Charles in for a visit," Poston told Josina Anderson of ESPN. "As of right now the plan is for him to fly in Tuesday. We are still waiting for their official schedule at this time."

Woodson had visited with the Broncos on Wednesday, but left without a contract. The Raiders had already put an initial offer on the table for Woodson as Poston made public on Tuesday. The thinking was he was using the Raiders contract offer as well as interest from the Panthers to try and get a good contract from the Broncos. It appears that has yet to happen.

The 36-year old corner-turned-safety at one time said he wanted to play for a contender but backed off his stance when there was little interest on the open market. As soon as he made it known he would be willing to join "a rebduilding team" the Raiders came calling.

Now, barring a last minute better offer from the Broncos, he will visit with the Raiders and GM Reggie McKenzie of whom he goes way back to his first six year in Green Bay where McKenzie was an executive.

Woodson will also be returning to his old stomping grounds as he spent the first eight years of his career with the Raiders after they drafted him in the first round (4th overall) in the 1998 draft.
