The Raiders and agreed to terms on a rookie contract with their top draft pick, D.J. Hayden according to a report by NFL.com's Ian Rappoport.

Hayden was chosen number 12 overall in April's draft. He was the final draft pick the Raiders needed to sign. It makes sense that he would sign last being that he was a first round pick. Some also speculated that the Raiders were attempting to put clauses in his contract which would protect them in case Hayden additional residual effects from the life-threatening heart injury he suffered his senior season at Houston.

Hayden already gave the team a little scare when he began feeling pain in his abdomen and had to receive surgery to remove scar tissue. The tissue had built up from the emergency surgery he had to repair his heart. Doctors have said there should be no further problems but an NFL can't be too careful with such things.

Dennis Allen has said he fully expects Hayden to be healthy and ready to go for training camp. Now we know he'll be under contract, the question only remains if he will be full go or be worked in slowly. We'll find out Friday when the team takes the practice field in Napa for the first time.
