The Raiders reported to training camp on Wednesday but when the buses pulled up, there were two notable players missing - first round pick, CB D.J. Hayden, and second round pick, OT Menelik Watson. The two players were the final 2013 draft picks yet to sign their rookie contracts. Now they, as well as the rest of the 2013 draft class, are officially under contract.
The Raiders had a total of ten selections in the 2013 draft - six of which came in the sixth and seventh round. The contracts of sixth round picks Nick Kasa, Latavius Murray, Mychal Rivera, and Stacy McGee as well as seventh round picks Brice Butler and Davis Bass were all announced in early June.
A week later, third round pick Sio Moore signed his deal. He was eager to get it done. The firey linebacker had changed his Twitter handle to @MrOaktown55 shortly after receiving his number.
This left three Raiders unsigned and they remained unsigned over the month long break following minicamp.
Next up was fourth round QB Tyler Wilson who signed earlier this week.
Late Wednesday, Watson signed his deal and then joined his teammates in Napa that evening.
The team has meetings scheduled all day today and all the while they were finalizing Hayden's contract. They made the signing official around noon. He may miss a couple meetings but will be in his room in Napa tonight and be on the field tomorrow morning when the team begins training camp practices.
This is slightly better than last season when fifth round pick, Juron Criner, didn't sign until the morning of the first training camp practice. Little to no disturbance this time around.
