After returning to practice Monday for the Raiders, D.J. Hayden should soon see more good news. Head coach Dennis Allen said he expects Hayden to be cleared by doctors this Friday to be full contact which would have him available to play in week three versus the Chicago Bears.
"Friday is when he should be cleared for contact," said Allen. "We'll reevaluate that with the doctors after that, but the plan going forward, I would anticipate, is he would be up and going for the Chicago game."
Hayden has been wearing a red non-contact jersey all of training camp since having a surgery to remove scar tissue from him abdomen. He has already missed the team's preseason opener and will miss their second preseason game when the team travels to New Orleans to play the Saints.
He is expected to be out of the red jersey come Sunday's practice and have a week of full contact before taking the field in the every important third preseason game. He will then likely receive extensive play in the team's final preseason game in Seattle and be ready to open the season.
