Raiders to keep looking for defensive tackle help

New, comments

The Raiders have become woefully thin at defensive tackle. The Raiders will be looking to bring someone in soon.

The defensive tackle position for the Raiders has become considerably depleted in camp this year. Most of the defensive line has been lost to nagging injuries and they have struggled to field an entire groupd throughout the camp.

Pat Sims has been out all camp, they soon lost Vance Walker, Stacy McGee, Johnny Jones, and Brandon Bair.

Wednesday the team went out and signed free agent Myles Wade and Thursday Vance Walker returned to practice as well. Stacy McGee returned to practice Friday and it looked as if things were looking good. Then, as it turns out, McGee was not quite ready to go and Myles Wade also couldn't finish practice with injury. Back to the drawing board.

Dennis Allen said after practice that the Raiders will be back in the market at the defensive tackle position.

"I think absolutely [defensive tackle] is something we gotta continue to look at," said Allen. "We brought in Myles Wade, unfortunately he was injured today so we gotta keep looking and make sure we've got enough bodies to come out here and practice with."

These things happen pretty quickly so I wouldn't be surprised if there is a transaction made by tomorrow and a new player take the field for practice tomorrow afternoon. The Raiders are currently at 90 players so they would have to cut someone to make room. It could be Myles Wade's time with the Raiders was a very brief one.
