The Raiders have trimmed the roster of two more spots by waiving injured defensive lineman Brandon Bair and offensive lineman Alex Parsons. This brings the team down to 78 players on the roster with one day left to get down to 75.
The team had cut Josh Cribbs and waived nine other players on Sunday as the first wave of trimming of the roster prior to the cutdown date. We knew at least some of the remaining players would be waived/injured and Parsons had sent a tweet thanking the Raiders for his time here though the Raiders had yet to announce the move.
Parsons had been replaced as the backup at center by newly acquired Andre Gurode. Then he got hurt and the writing was on the wall.
Bair was a longshot to make the team even healthy. But unfortunately, he never had the chance to prove he deserved to stick because he was injured nearly the entirety of training camp.
There could be more than one transaction made by tomorrow. Sebastian Janikowski was not practicing today and the team was working out a kicker to replace him at least for the team's final preseason game. If they sign the kicker, that will mean one more cut that must be made. No word on Janikowski's injury or his status for the regular season opener.
There is also a good chance the team will sign a few players who were cut by other teams this week which would mean even more players let go tomorrow and/or in the coming days.
