The Raiders were back at practice Wednesday preparing for their week two. Among those not practicing were Tyvon Branch, Menelik Watson, and David Ausberry according to media present.
Also not practicing was Sebastian Janikowski who is still nursing a calf strain he suffered in week three of the preseason. He missed a 48-yard field goal in the opener -- usually no problem for him -- which would suggest lingering issues with the calf.
Branch's injury is not serious. He is resting a sore shoulder and should return to practice soon and play in the Raiders' week two home opener against the Jaguars.
Watson and Ausberry are far less certain. Both missed the Raiders season opener and no word on when they might return to practice.
Ausberry suffered a shoulder injury in the team's second preseason game and has been out every since. He has had his shoulder sling off lately and looks like he may be close to returning. Whether that happens this week is still very uncertain.
Watson banged knees in practiced last week and his absence forced the team to do some shuffling. They shifted right tackle Khalif Barnes to the left side and put Tony Pashos in as the starting right tackle. To add depth, they activated offensive lineman, Matt McCants from the practice squad. Jared Veldheer was placed on partial season injured reserve in a corresponding move.
The team announced today they signed first year offensive lineman, Jack Cornell, to the practice squad to fill McCants' spot on the practice squad.
