Just a few weeks ago the Raiders were 14-point underdogs to the Patriots at New England. It became their most competitive game of the season at that point. Then after a shellacking at the hands of the Dolphins in London, it was a bit surprising the Raiders were only 7-point underdogs against the Chargers last week.
The Raiders offense came alive against the AFC West leading Chargers, who were considered to be one of if not THE best team in the NFL coming in. While the Raiders still lost, they put four touchdowns on the board and lost by just three points.
The competitiveness the Raiders showed against the Chargers may have changed the odds a bit and this week with the NFC West leading Cardinals favored by just 3.5 points.
What makes the 4-1 Cardinals tick these days is their defense. But they also feature a couple former Raiders on offense, including quarterback Carson Palmer who, when he has been healthy and on the field, has been a steady hand for them.
