It's mayhem at Mile High with AFC West rival San Diego Chargers taking on the Broncos. I don't expect any Raiders fans to root for either of these teams but if you want to find chinks in the armor, you gotta watch. The Broncos put it on the 49ers on Sunday night football last week in what was an absolute laugher.
The Chiefs took out the Chargers in San Diego last week so I fully expect them to get pummeled in Denver. Here is what the two SB Nation team blogs are saying:
Broncos blog Mile High Report:
The Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers boast two of the premiere quarterbacks in the NFL right now, and according to Denver's defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio, preparing for Philip Rivers is a lot like how he used to prepare for Peyton Manning when he was his opposing head coach in the AFC South.
"I watch Peyton; I watch what he does with our players, the timing, the practice. You look at [the San Diego Chargers] and what they're doing. They're working the same way," Del Rio said.
Manning and Rivers lead the AFC in passer rating with 118.2 and 113.0 scores respectively. Both are completing over 67% of their passes in 2014. Their success has made each of them top NFL MVP candidates - oddsmakers have Manning with league-leading 5/2 odds to win his sixth MVP while Rivers is enjoying 10/1 odds to win what would be his first MVP selection.
Chargers blog Bolts From the Blue:
With the injuries the Chargers currently have, the way the Broncos defense has been playing, and a gut feeling I am going to predict Broncos take this one 30-23. I think the AFC West really depends on this game. The Chargers will (hopefully) be healthier when they play Denver again later this year so I say whoever wins tonight will take the AFC West, the loser will be a wild card playoff team.
