And so it has come to pass that is this the seventh game of the 2014 NFL season, Derek Carr has set a new Raiders rookie passing touchdown record. It came in the final seconds of a the Raiders' 23-13 loss to the Cleveland Browns when he connected with Andre Holmes from ten yards out.
The touchdown pass gave Carr nine on the season, breaking his tie with 2013 undrafted rookie Matt McGloin who threw eight touchdown passes in six games last season.
The rookie second-round pick threw two touchdowns in the season opener against the Jets, one against the Texans in week two, one on the opening drive against the Dolphins in week four in London, four in week six against the Chargers (another Raiders rookie record), and now this latest one.
Even with the record, the Raiders remain winless (0-7), but Carr's efforts leave hope that he can solidify the quarterback position for the Raiders in future. He has nine more games this season to add to the record.
