The NFL trade deadline is coming up in just a few hours (1:00pm Pacific, 4:00pm Eastern). The Raiders may or may not actually be in the thick of trade discussions but they are certainly being mentioned a great deal.
The latest name to be tossed out there was by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport who said Justin Tuck is a player to watch as the deadline approaches.
Tuck was one of the team's early free agent signings after he was not re-signed by the New York Giants this off-season. He still has some talent left but right now is lost on a winless Raiders team going nowhere. Tuck has two sacks on the season, one on Tom Brady in the Raiders' week three game in Foxboro. The other came last week against the Browns.
The veteran defensive end has been relegated to situational pass rusher for the Raiders, with C.J. Wilson and Benson Mayowa getting the starts last week. It's a role that seems to work well for Tuck. He came in and made a couple stops on third down on Sunday which could give him some value to a team looking for that extra piece to give them the edge heading into the second half of the season.
The only other new rumor I have heard floating about is that of Marshawn Lynch being traded to the Raiders. As much as a lot of Cal Bears fans would like to see that homecoming happen, the rumor has no merit from what I can tell. He is more likely to go to a team like the Chargers who need a running back and are in the playoff hunt. The Raiders have no reason to trade for a 28-year-old back at this time.
