When it was reported the Raiders had worked out three different linebackers with experience inside, it signaled bad news for Nick Roach. That bad news is now confirmed as Roach was placed on injured reserve and the team added former Eagles linebacker, Jamar Chaney.
Chaney is a four-year veteran, spending the first three seasons with the Eagles. He started all 16 games in 2011 at middle linebacker, compiling 91 tackles (67 solo). He then appeared in 14 games with 5 starts at outside linebacker in 2012. He appeared in one game last season for the Falcons.
Roach suffered his concussion in week three of the preseason and had yet to play in a game this season through four games. His prolonged 6-week absence was extremely concerning and with his missing practice on Monday, there seemed a good chance the Raiders had decided it better to sit him down the remainder of the season.
