The Raiders confirmed the move that they have called up George Atkinson III to the active roster from the practice squad. The rookie running back had tweeted Friday that he had been activated. The question at the time was what roster transaction was to be made to make room for him. That transaction turned out to be placing cornerback Carlos Rogers on injured reserve.

Rogers was lost in week eight to a knee injury. The 33-year-old signed with the Raiders on a one-year deal, leaving the 49ers where he had started every game the past three seasons.
The 10-year veteran has started seven games this season at left cornerback for the Raiders. He was initially replaced by rookie T.J. Carrie but when Carrie went out with an ankle injury, second year corner D.J. Hayden took over the starting job.
Atkinson is the son of the legendary former Raiders defensive back. He was signed as a UDFA out of Notre Dame and is expected to return kicks as well as add depth at the running back position Sunday against the Rams.
