Derek Carr named Rookie of the Week

For Derek Carr's performance leading the Raiders to a win over the 49ers last week, he was nominated for Pepsi Rookie of the Week. The fans voted and the results are in with Carr taking home the honor.

Carr's 140.2 passer rating was the best of his young career. It wasn't his best numbers overall on the season -- those came in week 6 against the Chargers where he threw for 282 yards and 4 touchdowns -- but this one he put the team on his back and led them to a win.

To the folks at Pepsi it is apparently all about that W. Without it, Carr was not even in the running for Rookie of the Week. The win was the difference. A ridiculous distinction in this author's opinion in a team sport such as this is, but there you go.

The Raiders have now won two of their last three games with Derek Carr at the helm after beginning the season 0-10.
