Of all the reports out there for vacant head coaching positions, this one is probably the strangest. That being the report the Raiders are interviewing the former New York Jets head coach. No, not THAT former New York Jets head coach, before him. As in pre-Rex Ryan head coach Eric Mangini. This according to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports.
49ers assistant Eric Mangini slated to interview with the Raiders for their head-coaching job, source says.

This after Mark Davis made a serious run at recently released 49ers head coach, Jim Harbaugh. This interview is digging down the rung of coaches all the way to the 49ers tight ends coach.
To be fair, Mangini has been a head coach in the NFL. After holding the Jets head coaching position for three seasons (2006-08) he became the Browns head man for two seasons (2009-10). He had a career record of 33-47 and three of his five seasons as a head coach, he couldn't crack 5 wins.
Nicknamed "Mangenius" when the 35-year old took the Jets to a 10-6 record in his first season as head coach. This after just one season as Patriots defensive coordinator since being promoted from defensive backs coach. He would lose his one and only playoff game against his former team.
He becomes the first reported interview set up by the Raiders since failing to keep Jim Harbaugh from heading back to Michigan to coach.
