Bears join fray for Lamarr Houston

Whenever a player set for free agency re-signs with his original team or his signing a deal is imminent, it causes a domino effect on the other potential free agents at the position. Such is the case with Michael Bennett who re-signed with the Seahawks today.

There were a few teams vying for his services should he hit free agency. One such teams was the Chicago Bears who now have shifted their focus to Lamarr Houston according to Ian Rappoport.

Prior to this development the only team with reported interest in Houston was the Packers. Now as one of the few remaining defensive ends set to hit the market, he has teams who will be fighting over him. Thus far we have no evidence to suggest the Raiders are one of the teams pushing to sign him. But with the way Reggie McKenzie appears to be guarding his sizable salary cap money ($66 million), it may not matter because the Raiders offer will likely not be enough.

This is the second time we have seen this happen in the past couple days. The Dolphins are poised to sign former Chiefs left tackle, Branden Albert. This left Jared Veldheer as an even hotter commodity and now the Cardinals are said to be very interested in signing him.
