The Raiders have officially announced they have signed former 49ers cornerback, Carlos Rogers. This is the second 49ers corner they have added this off-season .They had already signed his teammate, Tarell Brown this off-season.

Carlos Rogers is a 9-year veteran NFL corner. He spent his first six seasons with the Redskins and the past three seasons with the 49ers. He has started every game the past three seasons in San Francisco, making the Pro Bowl in his first season there back in 2011. In eight postseason games he had 39 tackles (31 solo) and six passes defensed.

Though he is 32-years-old, Rogers has been very dependable of late, having not missed a single start the past three seasons in San Francisco.

The 6-0, 192 pound corner is expected to play slot corner primarily for the Raiders who have their two proposed starters in place in D.J. Hayden and Tarell Brown. Rogers has primarily played at left cornerback but has stepped inside to play slot cornerback as well. That is the role the team had yet to fill with the departure of Tracy Porter.

Another possible option would be similar to the role Porter played last season in which he was the starter and moved inside in nickel with Hayden entering to play the boundary corner. But with high hopes for their 12 overall pick from last season, the Raiders are expected to give Hayden every opportunity to be the starter.
