The Arizona Cardinals need a left tackle. They traded for Carson Palmer from the Raiders last off-season and now they are looking to add the man who protected Palmer's blindside during his season and a half in Oakland.
The Cardinals have been making left tackle a priority during the free agent tampering window. According to Kent Somers of AZCentral.com they had been looking at Branden Albert but with Albert signing with Miami looking to be a done deal, they have turned their attention to Veldheer.
Veldheer is hitting the market just entering his prime and was expected to be a popular target. Though, as Somer suggests, he is expected to be cheaper. If this is the general feeling from other teams, that could be good news for the Raiders
This situation is not a huge shock. I have expected for some time that Veldheer was to be allowed to test the market to find his value. If the Cardinals think Veldheer will come on the cheap, he may just opt to take the offer he had not accepted from the Raiders. Or at very least, there will be some ground given that wasn't before that could get a deal done.
