Raiders 2014 schedule to open in New York vs Jets

The NFL schedule is not officially released yet but the first bit of it has just been leaked. According to sources close to Newark Star Ledger reporter, Darryl Slater, the Raiders will open the 2014 season in New York against the Jets.

While this isn't a division rival, it is interesting just the same.

First of all, the more trips the Raiders can make in to the northeast early in the year the better. Met Life stadium is an open air stadium and later in the year it will only get colder. With the Raiders tough schedule, they need all the breaks they can get.

These two teams met just last year, with the Raiders defense letting the anemic Jets offense led by Geno Smith score a season high 37 points on them.

Each team has a few of the other's former players on it. The first major signing was by the Raiders who added former Jets right tackle, Austin Howard, as their first free agent signing.

The Jets added former Raiders wide receiver Jacoby Ford and already have former Raiders running back Mike Goodson.
