Shelby Harris, DE, Illinois State
The Raiders added another pass rusher in the final round of the draft with Harris. The 6-2, 288 pound defensive lineman could play either defensive end or defensive tackle for the Raiders.
Harris has some baggage. He began his college career at Wisconsin where he redshirted his freshman season. He then transferred to Illinois State and was suspended for behavioral issues and then prior to last season was dismissed for conduct detrimental to the team. He didn't play a down of football in 2013.
Harris had great numbers at Illinois State in 2012. He started all 13 games that season for the Redbirds and they reached the FCS national quarterfinals. He was voted an All-Missouri Valley Football Conference First Team selection, recording 85 tackles, 7.0 sacks and 16 tackles for loss.
It's another departure from Reggie McKenzie's belief in steering clear of players with character issues.
