2014 NFL Draft: Scouting the top five quarterbacks

Joe Robbins
1. Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville

Size: 6'2", 214 lbs

Bridgewater is extremely accurate and made his own reads in Louisville's pro-style offense. He has enough arm strength to make any throw on the field. The only aspect that Bridgewater needs to improve on is his deep throws. Forget the pro day, watch Bridgewater's film and he is still far and away the most polished quarterback in the 2014 NFL Draft.

2. Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M

Size: 6'0", 207 lbs

Manziel is a proven winner and is very good at improvising. While he is very athletic, he improved his passing from the pocket in 2013. He has a strong arm, but can he stay durable in the NFL?

3. Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, Eastern Illinois

Size: 6'2", 226 lbs

Garoppolo has the quickest release in the draft. He is very accurate and his mind works like a computer (makes excellent decisions). Needs to prove he can play against elite competition, and that he can succeed in a pro-style offense.

4. Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida

Size: 6'5", 232 lbs

Bortles has the highest ceiling of any quarterback in the draft. He has excellent size and athleticism. But unless he improves his decison making and accuracy, he is a bust waiting to happen.

5. Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State

Size: 6'2", 214 lbs

Carr has one of the strongest arms in the draft. His is athletic is throws well on the run. If Carr improves his accuracy, he can be a solid starter in the NFL.
