It must be the close of business on Friday because Reggie McKenzie is tying up loose ends. This Friday saw the Raiders lock in both of their fourth round picks -- DT Justin Ellis and CB Keith McGill. The deals are standard 4-year deals for both players. Both contracts will be just under $2.7 million over the life of the deal. Ellis will have a salary of $473k this season and McGill $445k.
Ellis was the Raiders pick at 107th overall as their first pick of the third day. At 6-2, 334 pounds he is a true nose tackle. He played in 37 games over four seasons at Louisiana Tech, garnering an All-Conference USA honorable mention as a senior. finished his collegiate career with 102 tackles (37 solo), 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and three passes defended.
The Raiders picked up a second 4th round pick when they swapped third round picks with the Dolphins. They used that extra pick (116th overall) to select McGill. The 6-3, 211-pound cornerback started all last season at Utah. It was his only season as a cornerback after playing safety his junior season as well as at Cerritos Junior College before that.
With these signings, the Raiders have now signed seven of their eight 2014 draft selections. Just third round pick OG Gabe Jackson remains unsigned.
