Khalil Mack is tired of talk, ready to prove it

It has been seemingly and eternity since the college and NFL off-season began. Since the top players in the draft have been grilled and prodded countless times since then. One of the more common questions for Khalil Mack has been if he thinks he is the best player in this draft. He was asked that question again following being drafted by the Raiders at pick number five.

"I think that I am," said Mack. "I'm at the point right now where I'm tired of talking and I want to go out and start proving a little bit of this stuff everybody's been talking about. I can't wait. I cannot wait."

Proving it is what Mack has been doing for quite some time. He wasn't recruited  by any major programs which is what led him to Buffalo. He has been proving the college scouts wrong ever since.

The Raiders love that fire in him. That kind of fire is a quality they have coveted in every player they have added to this team of late.

"Well, the first thing I fell in love with was the tape," said Dennis Allen. "And I think that's probably the most important thing. But when you get an opportunity to sit down with a young man and visit with him and find out a little bit more about what he's all about, he's a real man. He's a real man, he's a football first guy and he's got tremendous work ethic and he's a team player. Those are all things we look for in adding to our football team. So this is not only a high quality football character guy but a high quality character guy off the field, too."

I think it's safe to say we all share Mack's feelings on this one. Enough talk. Let's see it on the field. He will get his first chance to suit up in a week's time when the Raiders hold their rookie mini camp. But the season is still a ways away.
