Poll Question: Which Raider will end streak without a 1k yard receiver?

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Raiders have not had a 1,000 yard receiver since Randy Moss did it way back in 2005. Think about that for a second. How much has changed in the NFL since 2005? The whole damn league has become pass happy and yet in that time span the Raiders have failed to achieve what should be a fairly easy thing nowadays of having a receiver surpass that 1,000 yard mark.

What most aggravates me about this nasty little streak they have going is the very fact that we still have to mention Randy Moss while speaking about it. Randy Moss was never a Raider, he just wore the colors. He was far and away the most disappointing Raiders acquisition of my lifespan.

The last RAIDER to surpass the 1k yard mark was Tim Brown. That is a streak that hopefully will end this year with the squad the Raiders have managed to put together. They might not have what would be considered a super star number 1 receiver, but they definitely have some quality players at the position anyway.

In fact, the argument can easily be made that it is better to have a group of solid receivers over having one star receiver and nobody else worth mentioning after that player. That type of situation is actually exactly what Matt Schaub had to deal with for most of his career in Houston where he really only had Andre Johnson to throw to.

The days of only having one guy to throw to consistently for Matt Schaub are officially over. James Jones, Rod Streater, Andre Holmes and Denarius Moore are all players that are going to be fighting it out to earn the starting nods. All four of them are players that given the chance to be the top guy for the Raiders are capable of playing well enough to surpass the 1,000 yard mark even if none of the four have yet to do so.

These players are so close to each other in skills that it is hard to choose which player is most likely to pass 1,000 yards this season. Since the competition is so close I think it is an interesting question to pose for you readers. Who, if any of them, do you think will be the one to surpass 1,000 yards for the Raiders? Answer in the poll question below and/or in the comments!
