On the eve of the final day of Raiders training camp, they finally got linebacker Kaluka Maiava back from injury. He left the first day of camp with a hamstring injury and has been out ever since. He had been working at middle linebacker behind starter, Nick Roach all off-season.

With Maiava out, Miles Burris had been pulling double duty as first team weakside linebacker and second team middle linebacker. Burris had starting his entire rookie season on the weakside and after returning from his injury last season, he got work at middle linebacker. Maiava went out with a rib injury on November 3 and Burris was activated from the PUP list on Novemer 20. The Raiders are hoping they can now actually have both healthy simultaneously.

Maiava is to play an important role with the Raiders' defense and his return is key to the depth of the entire unit. Sio Moore and Burris are still battling it out for the starting job on the weakside and last year's starter, Kevin Burnett was released prior to the first day of training camp.
