Can you feel the excitement in the air? Tonight is the first home game for the Raiders in 2014 with the Detroit Lions coming to town in Week 2 of the preseason. Kickoff is at 7pm PT/11pm ET at the O.co Coliseum, check out the Viewing Guide in the Must Reads to see if you are in any of the areas that will be airing the game.
Maurice Jones-Drew is definitely excited with many friends and family members in attendance for his first game at home in the Silver and Black. He will be sharing time with Darren McFadden in the first quarter and probably into the 2nd quarter as well. Absolutely look for him to put on a show for his hometown crowd.
As for the starting quarterback, Matt Shaub will look to have better communication with his receivers in the early going. Last week there was a fair amount of dysfunction in that area so it should be a point of emphasis against the Lions. I am sure they are eager to show off what they have worked on this week.
Derek Carr will take over in either the 2nd Quarter or more likely the 3rd Quarter. It should be interesting to see how he plays in his 2nd game in the NFL. Hopefully the Raiders will open up the route tree more and give us a glimpse of his deep ball which looks like just a simple flick of the wrist. Matt McGloin will likely take over for the 4th quarter and will look to continue his consistent play from last week against the Vikings.

On defense we should get to see the starters a fair amount as well. Something I want to see is more of Lamarr Woodley and what he likes to do. Oh yeah, and that one guy named Khalil Mack. Hopefully the rookie can get going a little more in this one but the offense knows to watch for him before he ever steps on the field.
