The Raiders practiced for the last time before their first preseason game. So, now the injuries start to matter. These players need these preseason games to prepare for the regular season as well as show they are worthy of being on the roster. To do that, they need to be healthy enough to suit up.
The newest missing player was offensive guard, Lamar Mady, who Dennis Allen said rolled an ankle in Tuesday's practice. He was seen on crutches so it could be serious. I recall back when DJ Hayden broke his foot in OTA's, that was just a rolled ankle that put him in a walking boot. Hayden is still on PUP recovering from a stress fracture. Being that Mady was on crutches and is on the outside looking in at guard, I wouldn't be surprised if he were on injured reserve come the regular season.
Keith McGill was injured a couple practices ago but we had yet to figure out what his injury was. It is a groin injury. He was on the side working with several other injured Raiders players including Kaluka Maiava (hamstring), Usama Young (PUP, quad), Neiko Thorpe (unknown).
The injury list actually got shorter today, but it wasn't because they got healthy. It's because the team waived them. Marshall McFadden and Shelton Johnson were injured most of camp and were waived/injured and replaced by undrafted free agent Spencer Hadley and free agent safety, Larry Asante.
David Ausberry had the surgery done on his knee today and will be out a while. Dennis Allen still has no timetable for his return. Rounding out the injured list was Lucas Nix on the PUP.
