Raiders starting running back, Maurice Jones-Drew was not at practice today for the Raiders according to media on hand. He took a couple of hard shots in the game on Sunday against the Jets, though he remained in the game throughout.
The big shot most people noticed was a clothesline style hit from Quentin Coples on the first play of the second half. MJD had just been handed the ball and didn't see Coples who came unblocked into the backfield. Jones-Drew's legs came out from underneath him and he kicked the ball in the air. It was a vicious hit around the neck which some believed should have been a penalty, though none was called.
But that wasn't the first big shot MJD took in this game. Late in the second quarter, he took a hard hit from David Harris on a two yard run. He got up from it but motioned to the sideline to come out.
Returning to practice today for the first time in a while was cornerback, Chimdi Chekwa, who was out with a knee injury. He was set to be the team's nickel corner this season before going out with the injury.
Nick Roach was at practice but according to Vic Tafur of the San Francicso Chronicle, he still appeared to be very limited. Dennis Allen said on Monday that Roach was still not fully recovered from his the concussion he suffered in the team's third preseason game in Green Bay.
