Andre Holmes to get his shot once again

Two things happened last week within the Raiders receiving corps - Rod Streater went down with a broken foot and Denarius Moore dropped a pass that lost the game for the Raiders. The result? It's Andre Holmes time again.

"Yeah, Andre Holmes will be the guy," Dennis Allen said Wednesday. "Vincent Brown will be a guy that we'll bring in and use. Brice Butler, also, will be a guy that we can use. We've got some guys that can step in and help out in that way."

Holmes worked his way into the starting job during Denarius Moore's injury absence last season and played quite well. He seemed to take a step back this training camp and preseason and found himself buried on the depth chart once again.

Now with a lack of other options, he will be ascend to a starting job once again.

"He made some plays and then had some plays that we wish we could have back," Allen added. "We've got confidence that Andre, when we put him in the game, will go out and make some plays for us. He made a couple plays for us in the game the other day. He drew the pass interference penalty and had a big catch down in the boundary. Those are some of the things that Andre did for us last year and we feel like he can bring some of those things for us this year."

This could be Holmes' last best shot of proving he can be the NFL starting receiver the Raiders need him to be. How fitting, the players named Holmes gets his shot in London. He and Watson will both have something to play for, funnily enough.
