For the first time in nearly two weeks, Raiders starting middle linebacker, Nick Roach, is practicing. He suffered a concussion in the team's third preseason game in Green Bay and had been held out of practice ever since, including the first two practices this week. His returns signifies that he has passed concussion tests.
It would also suggest he will be available for the game this Sunday when the Raiders open the season in New York against the Jets, though that is yet to be determined.
Roach will need to continue to pas concussion tests right up to game day to be allowed to play. Dennis Allen said following practice that he is not yet cleared to play.
If he is able to go, the Raiders will be at near full strength on the defensive side of the ball. Just DJ Hayden, who has been out all of training camp and preseason and is now on the PUP list, would be missing from the starting lineup.
