The reports out today are that Jack Del Rio will be the Raiders next head coach. There were some who had hoped Tony Sparano might remain with the team in his previous role of assistant head coach and offensive line coach. That won't be happening. With Del Rio in, Sparano will be leaving the team.

Sparano took over as Interim Head Coach after week four of the season when the team fired then head coach Dennis Allen. Sparano took over an 0-4 team that had lost their last ten straight games dating back to the 2013 season.

When Allen was fired, Sparano was the natural choice for the job as it was a midseason move and Sparano was the team's assistant head coach coach.

He lost his first six games at the helm but finished the season going 3-3 with all three wins coming at home and all three losses happening on the road. This gave him a 3-9 record on the season. He has a 32-41 career record as a head coach with a previous four-year stint as head coach in Miami.

Del Rio will be hiring his own staff which is customary.
