One of the most important positions on the Oakland Raiders coaching staff is still in need of being filled. That position is Defensive Coordinator, and the Raiders have set up an interview for today with Louisville Cardinals DC Todd Grantham.

Grantham has been in the college ranks as the Defensive Coordinator for the Georgia Bulldogs from 2010-2013 and then last year was his lone year as DC of the Cardinals.
Before those gigs though he was in the NFL as a Defensive Line coach for the Colts from 99-2001, the Texans from 2002-2004, and the Cowboys from 2008-2009. In between there he also had a stint as a Defensive Coordinator for the Cleveland Browns from 2005-2007.
That is certainly plenty of experience so he is not a rookie coach that would come with growing pains. His first year as DC of the Browns in 05 he had their scoring defense ranked 11th in the league after the team allowed 18.8 ppg, though that jumped to 22nd in the league at an average of 22.2 ppg the following year. He never had a linebacker like Sio Moore or Khalil Mack to work with on those teams though.
