You can cross one name off the Raiders list of potential head coaches -- Todd Bowles. That's what Bowles did this week. The Cardinals Defensive Coordinator was requested by all five teams with head coaching vacancies and the one team he will not visit is the Raiders.
Even with his visit to Santa Clara to interview for 49ers head job, Bowles has "knocked off his list" the Raiders, according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee. This after reports that Bowles was making the other four coaching vacancies his priority in a busy week of interviews.
The Raiders may have known there was a chance Bowles would not be interviewing with them, so Reggie McKenzie made a trip out to Indianapolis earlier this week to interview Colts Offensive Coordinator Pep Hamilton in order to satisfy the Rooney Rule. It allows the team to move forward with hiring their next coach whenever they find their guy.
They have interviewed 8 head coaching candidates thus far and appear to be done. Some of those candidates are still on NFL playoff teams, so who they choose will decide when the head coach is announced.
