AFC Playoff picture: Raiders still in the hunt with winnable game ahead

New, comments
Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

A couple weeks ago, the Raiders were in the catbird seat ahead of the Jets, Bills, and Steelers are their main competition. Since then the Raiders have lost two-straight while each of them have won a game. In addition, the previously 1-5 Chiefs have now won three-straight and have jumped ahead of the Raiders in the playoff picture due to best win percentage in common games.

The common games the Steelers have won in the past three weeks have been against the Steelers and Broncos, against whom the Raiders have lost. And they haven't lost to any teams the Raiders have beaten.

Here is the entire AFC playoff picture:

Division winners:

1. New England Patriots (9-0)
2. Cincinnati Bengals (8-0)
3. Denver Broncos (7-2)
4. Indianapolis Colts (4-5)

Wild card:

5. Pittsburgh Steelers (6-4)
6. Buffalo Bills (5-4)
7. New York Jets (5-4)

In the hunt:

8. Kansas City Chiefs (4-5)
9. Oakland Raiders (4-5)
10. Miami Dolphins (4-5)
11. Houston Texans (3-5)

Despite the Raiders losing two-straight, they were both against tough teams in Pittsburgh and at home against the NFC North leading Vikings. Upcoming are two very winnable games in Detroit and Tennessee. This is where the rubber meets the road for this Raiders team still clinging to playoff hopes.
