In one of the more expected reports, LaMarr Woodley will be released by the Raiders this week according to a source close to CSN Bay Area's Fallon Smith.

Woodley is perhaps the most expected cut of all this off-season. He was cut by the Steelers last offseason and signed to a 2-year $12 million deal by the Raiders. He played in six games before being lost for the season with a biceps injury. Previous to his injury, he was basically irrelevant in the lineup. He started all six games and had a total of 5 tackles (3 solo).

His replacement, Benson Mayowa, eclipsed that total after one start.

This season he carries a salary of $5.2 million which is currently the fifth highest cap hit on the team. He is able to be cut with zero dead money left behind so the decision was about as easy as they come.

His release plus the soon-to-be-made-official release of Tyvon Branch will put the Raiders at just over $61 million under the salary cap.
