Report: Free agent safety Nate Allen to visit Raiders

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Even with the glaring need at safety for the Raiders with the release of Tyvon Branch, the Raiders had yet to be connected to any safeties in the negotiatiing period or on the first day of free agency. That first reported visit is to be former Eagles safety Nate Allen according to 95.7 The Game host John Middlekauf.

I had Allen as my second best safety still on the market behind Broncos Rahim Moore.

The former second round pick has played free safety most of his career but has at times also lined up at strong safety for the Eagles. Though his worst season was 2012 which was the one season he played strong safety more than he did free safety. His addition would mean Charles Woodson can stay at strong safety where he had a resurgent season in 2014.

Allen had a career high 4 interceptions last season.
