A few days ago a report surfaced that the Raiders were ‘in negotiations' with Greg Hardy's camp and were looking to sign him. Then a second report said the Raiders were interested in him. The following morning, Mark Davis came out firing, strongly shooting down the claims.
"False, falser and falsest," Davis told Tim Kawakami. "That is not true."
"He's somebody we are not negotiating with and I don't believe we would be interested in at this point in time. I can tell you this: It has not been brought up to me and it would have to come to me.
At the time of the original reports, my thinking was that what was deemed as negotiations and/or interest may have just been a phone call. On Saturday Reggie McKenzie addressed the report and from the sounds of it, there may have been contact, but not what would be deemed interest.
"At this point, we don't have any intention of doing anything with [Greg Hardy]," McKenzie told a group of beat writers Saturday night. "His situation is a delicate one. It's ongoing with the league also. Anything we do is with information, with all the players, information gathering."
So, there you have it. Mark Davis said there was no interest from the Raiders and no negotiations were taking place. It would appear some Raiders information gathering had a few in the media taking it to the next level.
