After just one season with the team, the Raiders have released defensive tackle Antonio Smith. This according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The 33-year-old Smith was signed last offseason to a 2-year deal. He was set to count $4 million against the 2015 salary cap. He leaves no dead money behind.

Smith was popular among his teammates in Oakland and though he wasn't great in run support, he finished second in the NFL last season among DT's with 35 QB hurries.

This offseason the Raiders attempted to upgrade the position by making a run at All Pro Ndamukong Suh, but lost out to the Dolphins. They also made offers to former Dolphins DT Jared Odrick who signed with the Jaguars.

In the end, the Raiders signed Dan Williams who is now slated to take over the starting defensive tackle spot alongside second year nose tackle, Justin Ellis.
