The Raiders made official the releases of linebacker Nick Roach and safety Usama Young. Both were released with a failed physical designation.

Roach's release was expected as he was still having symptoms of the concussion he suffered last preseason, causing him to miss the entire season.

Young suffered tears to both in ACL and MCL in week seven of last season, injuries that take a long time to recover from. His release makes an already thin safety group, even thinner. The team also released Tyvon Branch this offseason.

Roach's release saves the team $2.1 million against the salary cap with $1.6 million in dead money. Usama Young's release saves $1.1 million against the cap, for a total of $3.2 million in cap savings.

These moves bring the Raiders to over $67 million under the salary cap.
